About
My name is Eilidh Macdonald
I’m a qualified social worker based in Scotland with over 20 years of experience both statutory and independent sectors. Throughout my career, I’ve supported staff, foster carers, vulnerable adults, and children to achieve meaningful change and long-term stability.
For 15 years, I’ve specialised in fostering — working across three key roles: supervising social worker, depute manager and head of fostering recruitment. This has given me a deep understanding of the teamwork, pressures, and emotional challenges they bring.
My training includes approaches to leadership, attachment, approaches to leadership, FASD, ACEs, child law giving me a broad base to understand and support those working with trauma and complex family circumstances. In recent years, I’ve completed BASW coaching training, which led me to work with local authority social workers in times of uncertainty and crisis.
Coaching has become a natural extension of my social work, a space where reflection, courage, and compassion meet. I support individuals to slow down, regain clarity, and rediscover balance in demanding roles. Whether you’re at a crossroads in your career, feeling emotionally drained, or simply needing space to think, my coaching sessions are designed to help you reconnect with your purpose and wellbeing.

What I offer
I work one‑to‑one with social workers and social care workers who are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or emotionally drained by their roles. My coaching is grounded in 20+ years of frontline social work and fostering experience, so I understand the pressures, ethical dilemmas, and emotional weight of the job.

Clarify what you’re struggling with and why it feels so heavy.
-
Reconnect with your values and sense of purpose.
-
Set realistic boundaries and manage stress more effectively.
-
Explore whether you want to stay in social work, move roles, or step away for a time.
I offer coaching online (up to 6 sessions) via video (Zoom/Teams) or phone, so you can join from home, the office, or even a quiet car park after a long shift.
